When you document what you are wearing everyday you notice how little of your wardrobe you actually wear. I have spotted that I wear jeans a lot. I often go shopping for the trends that I have seen and try them on, they fit ok and hit the brief I then stick them in the wardrobe. I think I will wear them but the truth is I am just a casual style girl who would like to look smarter but its not my natural state.
Well today I am wearing an A-Line midi skirt, its been in my wardrobe since autumn.
It was from Marks and Spencer and is thick wool and has a lining which makes it perfect for cold days like today.
I am wearing it with this Uniqlo jumper, it dresses it back down to casual, the Swarovski necklace just adds a tiny sparkle.
These Paul Smith shoe boots were bought back in 2011! I am wearing Topshop lace trimmed socks.
I am off out to meet with a friend who has just bought a bar/restaurant, I hope my legs won’t be too cold!
One of the things that stood out for me this fashion month, is that we should keep hold of this summers blue blouses/shirts. The trend of shirts tucked into skirts, whatever the length, is still going strong.
Michael Kors, Tome, Hugo Boss and Stella Jean on the runways for spring/summer 2015.
Here is some street style inspiration.
Out shopping? Here are two to have a look at.
Uniqlo £29.90 and The Kooples £130.
With festival season underway I thought I would take a look at some styles that would work for this summer.
This whole look is from YMC. The only thing I might change would be the brogues for DM’s if the weather remains wet. The Spring coat is brilliant and as with most of the stuff from YMC you could dress it so differently it could work for a long time.
I always wear my hair up if the weather is rainy, it makes it so much easier than dealing with long wet hair sticking to my face. If the weather was to cheer up though this hat would be ideal.
I love the shape of this cap it is very similar to the straw hats seen in the Burberry Spring Summer 2012 campaign.
I would never take expensive sunglasses with me in case they get knocked off and trampled on, but you still want to look good, these Rayban-esque shades from Urban Outfitters are perfect.
Shorts seem to be a festival staple every year, I like these bright shorts from Uniqlo. Roll them up to get the right length for your leg shape.
Love these desert boots by Dr Martens.
Around 8 years ago I discovered Uniqlo in Richmond, perfect for t-shirts and v-neck jumpers. Nothing fancy just low priced and they washed well (I sound like my grandmother!) It has always been a look I have loved, a plain v-neck fine knit jumper jazzed up with the look du-jour. Which 8 years ago for me was hot pants and sandals or right now over-sized bling and high rise skinny jeans with platform shoes.
They have during those 8 years bought out more trend led pieces. They had the asscociation with Jil Sander which had some great coats and blazers as I remember. And the logo t-shirts with collaborations with brands like Laura Ashley and currently with Marvel magazines getting the ironic fashion vote.
On Monday the Lulu Guinness collaboration hits the shops with the full collection available at their central London stores. On the 26th April the Grazia Style Event will take place in London celebrating the collaboration with 20% off stock and Lulu Guinness herself making an appearance.
My favourite is the cameo print. I will certainly head over to Regent Street and pick up a couple of t-shirts. Perfect to tuck into my midi-skirts and those high-rise jeans.
Meanwhile check out their Designers Invitation Project. I think the images are lovely….
The striped blouse and skirt combo shown above definitely have my name on them prices are as you would expect from Uniqlo very inexpensive starting around the £30 mark.
I had a busy morning on Friday last week. Drop the kids off at school, get to a meeting for 9:30 and then brunch with some girlfriends. What on earth do you wear that looks appropriate for all of these situations? So I thought leggings and that fab Farhi pink cashmere with sparkly Converse, would have that ‘off duty dancer’ vibe. After all (pride before a fall) I am skinny and work out all the time. Whilst the fab three quarter length coat remained on but open and grey eternity scarf was nonchalantly draped, I felt like I had it sussed. Then at the meeting I removed the coat and caught a side view of myself in the mirror! Eek! Middle aged flat bottom!!
It seems even thin girls need to think about shapewear or never wear clingy ever again! I am off to check out Uniqlo’s affordable range.
