It’s definitely a new season, the weather has warmed up, the sun is out. Ditch the chunky knit its time for a spring update. One of the ways is to wear more denim. It was a massive look on the catwalks for spring/summer 15.

I could go on and on but here are the ‘new in’ items I have spotted lately that are worth taking at look at on our high street.
Nah! Add some edge to your outfit with a touch of sparkle on your feet. Socks and heels has long been in man repellant territory, but so what, lets up the ante by adding sparkle! Join in if your brave enough.
These from Topshop are only £3.50, a very pocket-friendly update for January.
These images from Pinterest show how some fashion bloggers have been adopting the look. Just as soon as the temperature rises to at least double figures I will definitely be rocking this trend. No doubt to a soundtrack of tuts and whispers of ‘mutton’ on the school run!
Nike at Office £71.99.
Zara skinny jeans £25.99.
Topshop coat £59.99.
H by Hudson at Anthropologie £168.
Yes, she is. They are. At Burberry Prorsum.
And on the streets.
Buy the look at Topshop.
£22, and £75.
£29.50 and £49.50.
Just when I was thinking it wasn’t a trend for me, I saw these images that changed my mind.
Look great don’t they? First is Topshop at £42 and they are perfect with the matching crop top. The next is Whistles £250. Tibi is the last and matchesfashion have them at £498.
I have seen a few people in the pre-fall trousers from French Connection and they are a good price at £85. I like the simplicity of the Marks and Spencer navy ones, £79. Talking of simple, this white Zara pair are easy to wear at any age, £59.99.
I will be heading out this week to try them for myself.
I can’t wait for summer and we have been given a little glimpse of it over the last few days. As soon as the kids get back to school next week I have a client’s holiday suitcase to shop for and high on my list is a slip dress. She is in her late 20’s and it is perfect for her shape. Slim with curves.
The first dress is from Haider Ackermann, available at net-a-porter.com, £745. It has that Kate Moss 90’s look. The second is Haute Hippie available at matchesfashion.com, £525. Styled perfectly here, I would copy this completely.
In the 90’s when we wore these slip dresses in the spring we wore white t-shirts under. Although I will be teaming mine with a longer length cardigan or slouchy jumper.
Urban Outfitters have this perfect 90’s check dress, £48. Of course you would expect Topshop to have this trend down. They have a few mini and maxi slip style dresses. This grey one is my favourite at £18. Simplicity is the key, don’t over embellish. The straightness of the style won’t suit everyone, so have a look at these as an alternative.
Adding some shape to the waist can help hide your tummy or create balance for pear shapes.
Those of you that follow me on twitter will remember me saying that I didn’t buy a fabulous slip skirt from Zara as I am obviously too old for that. Well I am afraid I went back the very next day and bought it!! It is currently ear-marked for my Christmas Day outfit. Sorry I will just have to be labelled ‘mutton’. Here it is and pretty much how I will style it too…
As I try to shake of any self doubts I will show you a couple of other options on our high street.
I love this one, wouldn’t it look great with an oversized cream coloured cable knit jumper.
A slightly longer version pictured above is easier to wear, I don’t like it with those boots though if you are listening French Connection people.
Wear them like these stylish bloggers…
Louise Gray has launched a clothing collection for Topshop and it is as bright and brilliant as you would imagine.
These images of Louise Gray modelling her own designs are courtesy of British Vogue. I wonder if she is also wearing her own make-up range too, also for Topshop.
The collection like her current Autumn/Winter ready-to-wear is definitely for the young fashion forward.
But can middle aged housewives have a pop at this look?
I may wear this with my boyfriend slouchy jeans and a khaki vest.
Not in the way she models it here, although if I were a lot younger I reckon I would.
Collections are due to arrive in store from the 23rd August.
When I was in my twenties I would quite often go out shopping and be indecisive about what to buy and then come home with nothing. Only to, about an hour later, rush back out before closing to pick something up that I suddenly realised I could not live without.
Things are so much easier now, most of us do the window shopping on the internet before we actually go out on the High Street or just buy online. This makes sales shopping much less scary, you are no longer worrying that if you don’t buy it now someone else will beat you to it.
Anyway whilst wondering what on earth you are supposed to wear when your wardrobe is full of floaty summer dresses and yet outside it is blowing a gale, I turned to the Autumn/Winter predictions for inspiration. This weather means that my mind is focused on next season and when out shopping it will be easier for me to buy something that I will wear into next year.
For today I just can’t see my white jeans working in this murk! Maybe my floral jeans? Turned up with the water-wading wedges? I have worked that look so many times I am very bored of it. What I really need is a new print.
Look at these beauties, Mother jeans with a cherry print. Great colour and a definite look for next season too. Luckily they are in the Donna Ida sale at £125. Love them, turn them up with a pair of brogues. Wear a boyfriend blazer and turn your collar to the wind!
These Topshop jeans have a floral print but it is less Spring more September I think. The green is going to be great for Autumn too. Only £42!
These Current/Elliot jeans are a great sale buy, only £85! Again find them in Donna Ida. I am heading out to Guildford right now to try these on in store!
Sorry girls, it looks like we won’t be wearing our sandals this morning. With the temperature in London set to only reach 13 degrees and there being a more than likely chance of showers we need to think about different footwear today.
My look for today will be printed capri pants and a white blouse with a pair of Sam Edelman spiked loafers.
I bought these from Bernard Boutique in Esher this Spring. I think they were priced around £130 and price per wear is very good. They seem to be out of stock right now but there are plenty of alternatives.
Which colour of these Topshop (£28) shoes would you go for?
I like the gold spiked studs on these from Office.
Just imagine you are a slightly punkier Audrey Hepburn when stepping out this morning.
