Dark days

Zara skinny jeans £25.99.

Topshop coat £59.99.

It’s Monday the sun is shining and I am looking forward to spring. I have recently been arguing the case for trainers as a fashion shoe, 90’s style, to be worn with dresses. As we saw a few weeks ago Chanel’s Couture show featured Cara et al wearing trainers on the runway.

This is my inspiration for my new early spring wardrobe.

Look at these two from Massimo Dutti, perfect partners I think. The dress is £54.95 and the trainers £69.95.

These two are from &Other Stories, the trainers Nike £70 and the dress £65.

In the pink for January

It is time for a new start people, those little black dresses need to be pushed aside to add some spring time colour. Of course it is still pretty chilly so don’t go jumping straight into spring wear.

Sporty styles are still a popular look and are perfect for this time of year. This from Moncler, (Bernard Boutique at £535), is an eye-catching colour and will look great over your last seasons chunky knit, skinny jeans and pumps.

High tops are a comfortable way to add colour and style to your look.

These are a great colour and retail at around £70.

Don’t be frightened of high tops if you don’t have legs like a super model, you just need to play around with the proportions of your outfit. I have a client who is petite and she believed she couldn’t wear ankle boots as her legs weren’t very long. I showed her that with a few tweaks to the rest of her outfit she could absolutely wear that trend and look great.

If the bright pink is too much for your skin tone try a softer option, like this blouse from Zara £25.99.

Layer up on cold days with grey cashmere, an easy combination for any age.

Olympic spirit

I have spent many an hour over the last week or so watching incredible athletes doing their thing on my TV screen.

I have been inspired to run faster and longer on my usual early morning run, even managing a sprint finish much to the amusement of the builders working next door!

Also I have been inspired to update my usual exercise wear.

These Nike trainers are on my wish list as it seems all Olympians wear neon trainers! These running shoes are priced from £80 to £150.

I love these running tops for when the weather gets cooler. Both from Sweaty Betty and both £65.

These Nike running leggings are great for until I get my legs ‘Jessica Ennis toned’, then I can wear the shorts! Leggings are £38, shorts £20.

Eat my dust next door’s builders!

Let’s go get high….

Pearl Jam

I was sitting in the car in traffic listening to the radio when The Pearl Jam track ‘Jeremy’ came on. I turned up the sound and started (true housewife style) to sing along. My head was transported back to about 1992 and the girl I was then. I know 90’s grunge style is having a revival so I thought I would check out how the look is translated for 2012 and how, if at all, this housewife could wear it.

The slip dress, heavy sweater and baseball boot was a great combo then, and if you are under 35 still a great combo. Obviously Topshop are all over this look.

Topshop Slip Dress £38

Sparkle Panel Sweatshirt £26

This to me looks a little dull and definitely not a look I want to wear. But these babies……

Nike High tops £66

With a maxi skirt and maybe a fab T-shirt?

Wildfox Long Live Campfire Tee £140

I can see me wearing something along these lines for Champagne Fridays later!
