The Jury is Out

When you document what you are wearing everyday you notice how little of your wardrobe you actually wear. I have spotted that I wear jeans a lot. I often go shopping for the trends that I have seen and try them on, they fit ok and hit the brief I then stick them in the wardrobe. I think I will wear them but the truth is I am just a casual style girl who would like to look smarter but its not my natural state.

Well today I am wearing an A-Line midi skirt, its been in my wardrobe since autumn.

It was from Marks and Spencer and is thick wool and has a lining which makes it perfect for cold days like today.

I am wearing it with this Uniqlo jumper, it dresses it back down to casual, the Swarovski necklace just adds a tiny sparkle.

These Paul Smith shoe boots were bought back in 2011! I am wearing Topshop lace trimmed socks.

I am off out to meet with a friend who has just bought a bar/restaurant, I hope my legs won’t be too cold!

Is She Wearing a Blanket?

Yes, she is. They are. At Burberry Prorsum.

Prabal Gurung.

Roberto Cavalli.

And on the streets.

Buy the look at Topshop.

£22, and £75.

Marks and Spencer.

£29.50 and £49.50.

New York is in full swing. Coach ss/15 looks great, I am going to be copying this style asap!

Its a pretty muted pastel pallet isn’t it. Have a look at our high street for items with the same vibe.

Cocoon coat from Whistles, £325. Pastel jumper from Topshop £34. Dress from Ted Baker, £139. Marks and Spencer faux fur jacket, £79.

Then sling a yellow toned shoulder bag on, like this Tory Burch bag available at, £206.25.

What to buy now

Big jumpers should be on your shopping list people. Whilst the weather is still warm, wear them as a dress or with a mini skirt and bare legs. Later wear them over midi skirts or trousers. Here’s the inspiration….

Stella McCartney, Miu Miu and Jonathan Saunders A/W 2014. Images thanks to Vogue UK.

And here is the high street…

Marks and Spencer Speziale Kimono jumper is first up, £129. It has a course knit and would look great with an A-line skirt and a chunky scarf. The next one is from Mango and is slouchier than the image shows, £34.99. And finally, Cos, this is a great knitted dress but could easily be layers as a jumper £79.

Buy them big and hope for a nip in the air like these early adopters!

Just when I was thinking it wasn’t a trend for me, I saw these images that changed my mind.

Look great don’t they? First is Topshop at £42 and they are perfect with the matching crop top. The next is Whistles £250. Tibi is the last and matchesfashion have them at £498.

I have seen a few people in the pre-fall trousers from French Connection and they are a good price at £85. I like the simplicity of the Marks and Spencer navy ones, £79.  Talking of simple, this white Zara pair are easy to wear at any age, £59.99.

I will be heading out this week to try them for myself.

Vivis £169 at Fenwick

Just add a faux fur jacket, a pair of Doc Martin shoes or brogues and no-one will know this is a nightie.

Cyberjammies £22.50 at House of Fraser

Wear this top tucked into your pencil skirt and add heels and red lipstick for a great classic evening look.

Rosie for Autograph PJ'S Marks and Spencer £28

I would wear these both together and wear with some high heeled ankle boots and a biker jacket perhaps. I would definitely wear the trousers with a sweatshirt and biker boots for a really cool look.

Are you brave enough?

Jagger boots Russell & Bromley £395

Pendulum boots Dune £115

Tabitha Simmons £750 at

Langdon Fizz boots £79.99 Clarks

Limited Edition boots Marks and Spencer £45

I will wear with ladylike outfits to tone down the middle-aged angst!

What’s going on?

Come on, let’s all take a look at what Marks and Spencer have to offer.

Both of these dresses are £39.50, and they are a great shape and print for now and for Autumn. I would wear the squiggle print dress with a print shirt under all buttoned up.

The Burberry inspired print pencil skirt is only £27.50 and the fabulous yellow midi skirt is £69.

Just what we need in rainy Blighty is a trench coat and with my favourite print too! £45!

Let’s all get down there and help cheer them up after today’s bad news story!

W is for Wu

I am browsing through all the latest new arrivals and Jason Wu is always on my wish list. The Pre-Fall collection is lovely, feminine but certainly not girly. I am using the collection as inspiration for shopping at my local High Street tomorrow.

I have the perfect dress already to emulate this look, I bought it from the NW3 sale this Spring.

Here it is..

It fits so well and creates an hour glass shape even on me! With bare legs and the right shoes I think it will work.

Maybe these from MaxMara £378.

This skirt from Jaeger also has that Wu look.

And of course a lot more affordable at £120 in the sale. I also quite like this dress from Marks and Spencer, £45. Nice print and neckline.

Roll on shopping day!

New-in v Sales

Ted Baker pleated maxi skirt £169

I get all excited when I see a ‘New in’ button. And when I clicked it this morning look what I found. That fab Ted Baker skirt. Beautiful print and colour.

dark orange dress £159

A strange choice for me this dress as it seems overtly sexy. However I think the colour is great, play around with belts and consider layering blouses underneath. I left Ted Baker and scanned through Marks and Spencer.

Yellow skirt £29.50

I love that skirt, I hate it with those sandals though!

Dress £55

Wow, very like a Peter Pilotto dress I have seen. Put that straight in the basket!

Equally as fun is trying to find magic pieces in the sale.

Peplum skirt £15

What a fab little skirt! This following dress is very cool. But it definitely needs a belt. A dark blue wide weaved belt would be ideal, then I can see this dress working until 2013.

Dress £15

So, which are you tempted to buy?
