If theres one thing your wardrobe cannot do without this season it is a vest top. It is going to update everything and be the hardest working piece for summer. Last year it was the sleeveless blouse and I am not saying don’t wear those again this year, its just – you know – we all like something new.  I know I keep banging on about it but this all stems from the 90’s style come back.

First up, The Row have this lovely top for £500, available at netaporter. They also stock the leather Alexander Wang one shown here with a mini skirt, £440. My favourites though are these two from netaporter.

The first is Band of Outsiders at a more affordable £190, it is a flattering navy for pale skins. The second is Jonathan Simkhai I really like the mesh strip and blue panel at the bottom.

The first here is a pretty poppy print at French Connection £69, the second is an absolute bargain of a silk camisole £39 from Jigsaw.

They look great as shown on most of these images with your skinny jeans for this spring, also with mid length or maxi skirts or silk pyjama style trousers.

Sometimes a piece of clothing jumps out from the rail and tells you that it is everything that you have ever wanted. This top from Jigsaw is definitely it.

I would wear it with my skinnies and some killer heels. You know what, I would wear it for a casual night out with a maxi skirt and Converse pumps. I would certainly dress it up with a nude toned pencil skirt. I love it. It would work in my wardrobe for a long time, at £98 it’s a bargain.

Espadrilles £65

Then I saw these and I started to think maybe Jigsaw could be my latest high street crush.

Pintuck dress £159

This is lovely, it is blue not black (I may have mentioned that I quite like blue before!).

Use a 1970’s Bianca Jagger as your inspiration with these trousers and jacket.

Wide leg trousers £129

Tailored blazer £129

Lovely!

Let’s be optimistic

And hit the mid-season sales, I swear I just saw a break in those rain clouds.

Yves Saint Laurent £226 Matches

Stella McCartney £198 Matches

Sandals Wallis £15

Espadrille Jigsaw £39

Any of these fab sale bargains would look great with this thrifty New Look dress.

Midi dress £22.99

Oh, false alarm, it’s just started raining again. Still, this dress would look great with those edgy wedges and a trench coat!

Sunday afternoon Jigsaw

I love a traditional family Sunday and today that is exactly what I am doing. The family are travelling down from Staffordshire and we are going out for lunch in Notting Hill and then home for gossiping and reading papers and drinking tea. On a day like this I want to wear something that looks smart enough for the restaurant and cool enough for Notting Hill and not too dressy for the family.

This fab yellow trench is from Jigsaw and is £225. I think this would be perfect for my day today. I would probably wear it with an Audrey Hepburn inspired cropped black trousers, simple black T or Polo neck jumper and loafers. Perfect.

Whilst I was in Jigsaw I spotted some amazing little sale picks that you could wear through spring and into Autumn.

This is an uninspiring photo but imagine this dress (£265) for Spring with a collar necklace, coloured tights and clashing heels.

Like this collar from Topshop only £16!

And these colour block heels from byLarin 195.00€

For Autumn add a geometric patterned coat and trousers for a Prada-esque feel. Or wear with a patterned blouse under, dark tights and shoe-boots.

The next find was this amazing belt, it is only £11 and it can update a simple shift dress now and we saw wide leather belts on the Autumn/Winter catwalks too.

Have a lovely Sunday!
