I am browsing through all the latest new arrivals and Jason Wu is always on my wish list. The Pre-Fall collection is lovely, feminine but certainly not girly. I am using the collection as inspiration for shopping at my local High Street tomorrow.
I have the perfect dress already to emulate this look, I bought it from the NW3 sale this Spring.
Here it is..
It fits so well and creates an hour glass shape even on me! With bare legs and the right shoes I think it will work.
Maybe these from MaxMara £378.
This skirt from Jaeger also has that Wu look.
And of course a lot more affordable at £120 in the sale. I also quite like this dress from Marks and Spencer, £45. Nice print and neckline.
Roll on shopping day!
I do love Jason Wu, here is some more of his brilliance seen on the runways for Autumn/Winter 12/13.
I absolutely love the fur peplum. It wouldn’t work on my pear-shape sadly, I would need some shoulder definition to even the shape out. The oriental/military style jacket is beautiful. Pony-tails featured at SS12 shows too, but here Jason Wu makes it a fierce ‘warrior’ pony-tail.
Flicking through the pages of Vogue this morning my mind was struck by a major look in this new seasons styles. I have talked before about the evolution of fashion and those little subtle changes, the peplum is one that has sneaked up on me. It is also quite an easy thing to add to your current wardrobe because it goes so well with pencil skirts, skinny or straight or in fact tapered trousers. Instantly it will bring your style up to 2012. Great examples that caught my eye were Jason Wu, Dior, Dries Van Noten, and Vera Wang.
I suddenly remembered a Hobbs navy blue top I bought last spring. I remembered it had a peplum-like waist. The neckline wasn’t great for me so I have hardly worn it. I ran upstairs to a terribly dis-organised wardrobe (physician heal thy self) and discovered a few other forgotten items too.
I had so forgotten about this that tags were still attached and it was screwed up at the back of the drawer!
Add the Hobbs top
….and pull together with a deco-clasped belt from an old Whistles dress.
Instant update for my silver/grey Topshop Autumn tapered trousers.
The Resort 2012 collection from Jason Wu is just lovely. It is so ready-to-wear you can visualise yourself in your local coffee house wearing these outfits.
My favourite of these is the blue trousers and sweatshirt outfit. The trousers are very drummer-boy when you get close up with black trimming, the sweatshirt has a Varsity feel. For those of us that don’t have the kind of money required for head-to-toe Wu, copying from the high street should be quite easy.
I chose Whistles for quick example.
