Just when I was thinking it wasn’t a trend for me, I saw these images that changed my mind.
Look great don’t they? First is Topshop at £42 and they are perfect with the matching crop top. The next is Whistles £250. Tibi is the last and matchesfashion have them at £498.
I have seen a few people in the pre-fall trousers from French Connection and they are a good price at £85. I like the simplicity of the Marks and Spencer navy ones, £79. Talking of simple, this white Zara pair are easy to wear at any age, £59.99.
I will be heading out this week to try them for myself.
If theres one thing your wardrobe cannot do without this season it is a vest top. It is going to update everything and be the hardest working piece for summer. Last year it was the sleeveless blouse and I am not saying don’t wear those again this year, its just – you know – we all like something new. I know I keep banging on about it but this all stems from the 90’s style come back.
First up, The Row have this lovely top for £500, available at netaporter. They also stock the leather Alexander Wang one shown here with a mini skirt, £440. My favourites though are these two from netaporter.
The first is Band of Outsiders at a more affordable £190, it is a flattering navy for pale skins. The second is Jonathan Simkhai I really like the mesh strip and blue panel at the bottom.
The first here is a pretty poppy print at French Connection £69, the second is an absolute bargain of a silk camisole £39 from Jigsaw.
They look great as shown on most of these images with your skinny jeans for this spring, also with mid length or maxi skirts or silk pyjama style trousers.
Those of you that follow me on twitter will remember me saying that I didn’t buy a fabulous slip skirt from Zara as I am obviously too old for that. Well I am afraid I went back the very next day and bought it!! It is currently ear-marked for my Christmas Day outfit. Sorry I will just have to be labelled ‘mutton’. Here it is and pretty much how I will style it too…
As I try to shake of any self doubts I will show you a couple of other options on our high street.
I love this one, wouldn’t it look great with an oversized cream coloured cable knit jumper.
A slightly longer version pictured above is easier to wear, I don’t like it with those boots though if you are listening French Connection people.
Wear them like these stylish bloggers…
This morning was the first frost of the season for us here in Surrey and now is the time to upgrade our autumn jackets for something thicker and cosier. I know oversized coats are big news this season but we all need an everyday casual wear jacket/coat that looks good and keeps you toasty. First up is Superdry with two perfect and versatile jackets that fit the brief.
Eskimo cape at £94.99.
Timelessly cool is this pea coat and a bargain at £114.99.
This is an item of beauty! 2ndDay ‘Night Zolena’ coat at £899 from Bernard Boutique in Esher or online.
These two from French Connection are lovely the first is the ‘Snow Rhumba’ parka and has a detachable fleece lining for when it’s really cold £190. The second parka is an update for this season with faux leather sleeves and again detachable lining £165.
The Pre-Fall collections are out, I can’t believe it’s that time already. I must admit the weather lends itself perfectly for it!
My inspiration today is the Dior Pre- Ready-to-Wear. I love it, the monochrome dressing has that cool mod vibe and the dusty colours seem a perfect evolution from the pastels of Spring.
Here are few High Street alternatives for us mere mortals!
And then there were the brights, the bold orange and the ‘Cadbury purple’!
Remove these jeans and add a midi skirt.
Wear a sweater with a skater skirt or dress.
What do you think?
It’s probably best not to jinx it by assuming that the warm weather is going to last for more than just this week. The last three days being seriously warm and lovely have left me with a desperate need to find two things. One being the everyday sandal for the season, two being a dress (or two, or three) that can keep me cool in the sun and….well…keep me looking cool too!
I love this, it has a nude pallet and a touch of sheen. It is a great shape, loose fitting in a way that shows off curves and flatters them at the same time. For daytime I would need some cute flat sandals to go with it.
Maybe something like this?…
Lovely colour. A great clash with the dress! Or these maybe?
Fab animal print, maybe better for my pale skin tone than the neon yellow ones. Whilst I was in L.K Bennett I also spotted these fab sandals in the sale.
What a bargain!
Of course perfect for this season is the pleated midi skirt, fab for dressing up or down, wear this lovely skirt (below) with the L.K Bennett sandals during the day. I would team it with a tucked in t-shirt for a casual daytime look.
Put on a cute and quirky necklace.
Fab, now the research is done all I have to do is wait for payday!
Since seeing the Jimmy Choo Justine-L bag my eye has been caught by all things yellow. Here are a few of my favourite eye-spies….
I would team any of these little beauties with a fab trench for this transitional stage.
And desert boots perhaps?
