There is definitely a folksy/urban hippy vibe to the spring/summer shows this month.
Dries Van Noten.
Dolce & Gabbana.
Pick your tribe vibe, from Germanic northern European, Oriental, Sicilian, Turkish and Native American. Any will do, and all are very pretty.
Maybe it is because I was feeling a little under the weather but Paris Fashion Week seemed to me as if it was a little quiet and uninspiring. And then I saw Dries Van Noten. I loved the colours and the prints, I loved it all – almost as much as Giorgio Armani in Milan!
Now I am looking forward to another day starting and hoping for more excitement. Thanks to Vogue for the images.
Flicking through the pages of Vogue this morning my mind was struck by a major look in this new seasons styles. I have talked before about the evolution of fashion and those little subtle changes, the peplum is one that has sneaked up on me. It is also quite an easy thing to add to your current wardrobe because it goes so well with pencil skirts, skinny or straight or in fact tapered trousers. Instantly it will bring your style up to 2012. Great examples that caught my eye were Jason Wu, Dior, Dries Van Noten, and Vera Wang.
I suddenly remembered a Hobbs navy blue top I bought last spring. I remembered it had a peplum-like waist. The neckline wasn’t great for me so I have hardly worn it. I ran upstairs to a terribly dis-organised wardrobe (physician heal thy self) and discovered a few other forgotten items too.
I had so forgotten about this that tags were still attached and it was screwed up at the back of the drawer!
Add the Hobbs top
….and pull together with a deco-clasped belt from an old Whistles dress.
Instant update for my silver/grey Topshop Autumn tapered trousers.
